Three Stars Charity Work

Three Stars believes that community is the cornerstone of any business. Regardless of where your products or services are sold - whether it be nationally or internationally - the community the company is based in primarily supports the operation. From local businesses who sell office supplies to the coffee shop down the street that keeps the employees juiced with caffeine – without the community there is no business.

That´s why it´s important to support the community and give back whenever possible.

Three Stars values the local community and all of its citizens. We understand times are tough and people need a little life-boost every now and then. To that end, we initiated a charity program that enables our employees and executives to support the people who support us.

As a philosophy, we believe that Three Stars Inc. is bigger than just the people that work here. The β€œInc.” at the end of our name incorporates every person living, working and playing in our community. We take pride in that community.

Month of Miracles

December 2008 was a very special month for the employees of Three Stars. Besides the usual Holiday hustle and bustle that accompanies that time of year, it was the first opportunity for them to come together as a group and share the success they had enjoyed all year long with others.

It was decided that a company toy drive would be the best way to give back, and be the first of many charity events for the company.

In typical Three Stars fashion, a little flair would be added. Instead of just collecting the toys and distributing them out of the back of a truck, we wanted to create an experience for the kids of a local neighborhood that would resonate with them, and make the Holidays more magical.

Santa, it was decided, would deliver the toys from atop a horse drawn carriage. How we got Santa to take time off from his busy Christmas Eve schedule is a trade secret we can´t share. But we knew that Santa´s presence would excite the kids so much that acquiring his services was a worthwhile expense.

So for the month of December the employees gathered up toys for children of all ages like elves on a shopping spree with Santa´s credit card. By the time Christmas Eve rolled around, we had collected over 1500 toys.

The toys were separated by Three Stars volunteers and soon enough Santa appeared to help us take them over to the residents of Ivey Lane Homes. With his elves busy with the final sort for the big night, it was our employees who helped him pass out the toys to the ecstatic boys and girls.

For being our first charity event, it was a great success that inspired us to give back year round.

Dress for Success

With the success of our Month of Miracles fresh in our minds, the management team of Three Stars immediately went to work planning our next events.

The company has built its success around its internet job board Career Network, and we felt that assisting people locate jobs was one of the best ways we could help. However, we also understood there was more to a job hunt than setting up an interview.

As a job seeker, to make an impact during an interview you need to have sharp answers to each question, and you need to dress for success. But it´s not always easy for everyone to look their best. We thought we could help out with that.

Three Stars is in the planning stages of setting up a business attire donation program to model other Dress for Success programs throughout the country. We would accept clothing donations and make them available to people of the community who need it most. Besides helping out members of our community, it also goes a long way in supporting our efforts to go green and recycle used clothing.

Check back for further updates as we put this program together.

School Supply Drive

Three Stars knows how important a good education is to success in life. It´s an investment of time, effort and materials. Any child can provide the time and effort – but the proper materials aren´t always as easy to come by for all children.

In July, Three Stars will be returning to the Ivey Lanes Home neighborhood to assist the children´s academic efforts and provide for them the materials they will need to achieve greatness at school.

At Three Stars, we understand that people are busy and you may not have time every week or the same time every week to donate to a charity or volunteer organization. Or, perhaps you've tried to volunteer only to find that your time wasn't really utilized as much as you'd like it to have been. But know that there are things you can do that take only a few minutes and only a small amount of energy.
